The final essay

If you left early or were absent this week....
The final essay is an argumentative essay. Look at Unit 7 in your books to get the information on organization and planning.
The topic is "Guns in America". What is your opinion regarding gun ownership, control and so on. Choose a position and give reasons why.
Also, next week is the last class. During the morning you will have time to catch up on blogs and essays. In the afternoon you will write an essay and do the grammar section (transitions, passive, comparatives, indirect questions).
See you then

Homework

Sorry this is late, I thought I had done it..
Anyway, for the students who left early or were absent last week..
Homework is a process essay. You can take the topic from the book p 83, or think of your own. Make sure if you choose your own that it is clearly a process that has stages that can be followed in a chronological order.

My week...

This is pretty well how I spent my week. We had a small pool at the house we were staying in, and my daughter wanted to spend all the time in there. She can't swim yet, but is completely fearless of water. She learnt to jump in. and so my job was to fish her out every thirty seconds or so. Of course. I forgot to put suncream on my bald head, so I got burnt quickly. But I don't imagine anyone would give me any sympathy, it's a pretty good way to spend a week.......
Remember to post about your week too. Even if nothing interesting happened, talk about why nothing, happened or how you feel about it. Remember, these blogs will contribute to your final grade.
If you are not coming to class this week, check later for the homework and how to catch up...
See you later

Homework week 1

For the students who left early, this week's homework is an essay explaining the skills needed to be successful in your dream job. Try to think of at least two, and be as detailed as possible with your supporting evidence. I'll try and check your writings while on vacation.

Welcome

This is the teacher's blog for Spring 1 Test Prep Writing.
We will be using the blogs for two types of writing. Each week, at the beginning of class you will be asked to write about your week. You might want to write about something that happened to you, or maybe about some news story you heard and how you felt about it. You could inform us about something that happened in your country during the week, or maybe explain if there was a special festival or holiday in your culture this week.I will ask you to read your classmates' blogs and make comments and ask questions. We don't want to read.... Monday went to work. Tuesday went to work. Wednesday it rained...etc. Your weekly writing will count for 10% of your final grade.
We will also be using the blogs to write our essays each week for homework. Your 3 best essasys will be included as your three assessment grades.
If you have any questions or comments please add them below...
